Farrah Fawcett was an icon of the 1970's and 1980's as she went from extremely popular model to one of the stars of Charlie's Angels as "Jill Monroe". The poster of Farrah in a red one-piece swimsuit (with scandalously obvious nipples) became every bit as famous as images of Marilyn Monroe standing over a manhole. Farrah's acting career never really amounted to much beyond "Charlie's Angels", although she did receive an Emmy nomination for her role as an abused wife in a TV movie called "The Burning Bed".

Inevitably, when a celebrity's career is primarily based on his/her looks - especially for women - they slowly fade from view, but Farrah never completely dropped out of the public eye. It didn't hurt that she chose to pose nude for Playboy magazine in both 1995 and 1997. After learning that she had cancer in 2006, the publicity was of the less fortunate kind for the rest of her life. Despite pronouncements that she was "cancer-free" after an initial series of treatments, Farrah Fawcett ultimately died from the disease on June 25, 2009.
